A group of modern-day volunteers, aged 10 to 59, spend three weeks living and working as residents of a recreated Victorian slum in Bethnal Green, in London’s East End. Set inside the notorious Old Nichol, the series follows their attempt to experience the daily pressures of slum life while Michael Mosley explores how the Victorian East End reshaped public attitudes toward poverty.
