At the height of the Cold War in the 1980s, Elizabeth and Philip Jennings live in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., posing as an ordinary American married couple while secretly working as Soviet KGB officers. Their carefully constructed lives unfold alongside those of their neighbor, Stan Beeman, an FBI counterintelligence agent, as espionage and domestic routine exist side by side.
