Five ordinary people with extraordinary physical and mental abilities are brought together as a team known as the Alphas. Led by noted neurologist and psychiatrist Lee Rosen, they operate within the U.S. Department of Defense, investigating criminal cases that may involve others with similar Alpha abilities and learning how their unusual powers fit into dangerous real-world work.
