Joe Fox, the magnate behind a major book superstore, and Kathleen Kelly, the owner of an independent book shop, meet online and begin to fall for each other in the anonymity of the Internet. Neither realizes who the other is in everyday life, where Joe’s expanding business threatens Kathleen’s store and turns their real-world connection into a conflict neither sees coming.
