During World War II, an American POW colonel finds himself in command of a group of mostly British prisoners held by the Germans in Italy. Determined to escape, he leads them in a bold plan to seize control of a freight train and use it to break free. First, he must earn the trust of the soldiers under his command as they face the dangers of enemy territory.
