In 1945, just after the Second World War, Grace lives with her children, Anne and Nicholas, on an old family estate in the Channel Islands. Because the children have a rare sensitivity to light, the house is kept in darkness. When strange events and disturbing visions make the family fear the home is haunted, Grace becomes determined to protect her children at any cost.
