In 1958 Brooklyn, four lower middle-class teenagers move through the rituals of growing up as members of a social club known as The Lords of Flatbush. Between the local malt shop, pool halls, stolen cars, street fights, and chasing girls, two of the boys find themselves drawn more to romance than to the rumbles that define their tough image.
