Mild-mannered Jed Clampett lives as a dirt-poor hill-dweller until oil is discovered on his property, suddenly turning his life upside down with unexpected wealth. Urged by his cousin Pearl to make the most of his new fortune, Jed leaves his old home behind and moves his family to Beverly Hills, where they try to enjoy a very different way of living.
