In 1994 near Doncaster, rumors of a giant carp in the local ponds draw a group of young friends and neighbors into a night-time fishing expedition. After Trevor keeps watch alone, he brings the others together in the hope of seeing it for themselves. Around them are broken families, cassette tapes and rising political tension, but for one brief stretch, their private struggles give way to a shared moment of harmony.
