After a long deep-space expedition in hypersleep, astronaut Taylor and his crew crash-land in the 40th century on a distant planet unlike any they expected. There, intelligent ape species dominate society, while humans live as a primitive, enslaved race used for experimentation and sport. As Taylor becomes one of the hunted, his survival depends on a sympathetic chimpanzee scientist.
