An army veteran returns to her childhood home in the Ozarks and finds a young boy abandoned in the woods nearby. After taking him in, she begins looking for clues to who he is and where he came from. Her search leads her into local folklore about the Tatterdemalion, a malevolent, life-draining spirit said to appear in the form of a child.
