Sam, an Indian-American teenager, is desperate to fit in at school and distances herself from her Indian culture and family. After a falling out with her former best friend, she unwittingly releases a mythological demonic spirit that feeds on loneliness and grows stronger. As the entity latches onto her friend, Sam is forced to confront the heritage she has been trying to reject.
