A hard, emotionally closed-off Londoner returns to his ancestral homeland in Donegal, on the west coast of Ireland. After a violent car crash nearly kills him, he becomes drawn to the teenage boy involved in the accident, a forceful presence who seems to embody the vitality he has shut out. Confronted by the collision and its aftermath, he is pushed to face the self-destructive truth at his core.
