A handwritten manuscript believed to be Dante Alighieri’s original The Divine Comedy passes from a Vatican priest into the hands of a New York City mob boss. Writer Nick Tosches is brought in to verify its authenticity, but instead takes the manuscript for himself. Alongside his story, a parallel thread follows Dante as he struggles to create the masterpiece.
