Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda arrive at a remote log cabin in the woods, where they discover a voice recording left by an archeologist reciting ancient chants from The Book of the Dead. When the recording is played, a malevolent force is unleashed and takes hold of Linda. Now the lone survivor of the attack, Ash remains trapped in the cabin as flesh-possessing spirits close in again.
