In the far north, mail that once depended on dogsled teams is now being delivered by airplane, leaving Balto and the other sled dogs feeling forgotten and without purpose. As the new way of carrying mail proves successful, the dogs struggle with being pushed aside. But when a mail plane crashes in the mountains, Balto and the team get the chance to show that sled dogs are still needed.
