In 1987 El Paso, Texas, Mexican-American teenagers Aristotle Mendoza and Dante Quintana are two loners who form an unexpected friendship. As their bond grows, they begin to confront questions about racial and ethnic identity, sexuality, and the family relationships that shape their lives, facing the difficult and uncertain path toward understanding themselves.
